John Tochukwu Nwangwu is a Nigerian-American public health doctor with expertise in infectious diseases and epidemiology, a consultant at the World Health Organization and a professor at both Yale University and Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU). At Yale University, he holds the position of Clinical Professor of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology. While at SCSU he holds the position of Professor of Epidemiology and Global Health.

“Looking for Love: A Sacred Search” with Drs. Oluwatosin Adeyemo, YSM, and Kunle Adeyemo

We are very excited to invite Drs. Oluwatosin Adeyemo (Yale Medical School) and Kunle Adeyemo to share their story as we consider our topic, "Looking for Love: A Sacred Search." You'll definitely want to invite your friends for this special event! Catered dinner provided.

Tosin received her MD from Yale Medical School and completed her OB/GYN residency at Harvard. In 2020, she also completed a Master of Public Health degree at the Yale School of Public Health. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the Yale Medical School, and is passionate about addressing women's health disparities in her immediate community and in global settings through research, education and provision of clinical care.

Kunle received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from MIT. He is a Senior Director in the Corporate Strategy team at Cognizant, an enterprise IT services company, where he supports the executive committee and the board in making key organizational and strategic decisions. Prior to Cognizant, Kunle worked at Bain & Company, a global management consultancy, serving clients across industries and geographies. In his off-work hours, he serves a worship leader at Trinity Baptist Church, New Haven. He is also an avid fan of Jeopardy!

Faculty Friday: Dr. Jessica Abellard

Join us as Dr. Abellard (YSM) shares with us on the topic of “God’s Provision for Mental Health in this Season of Life" at our February Faculty Friday event! Catered dinner provided.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Dr. Jessica Abellard graduated from Temple University School of Medicine then completed her psychiatry residency at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. As a trainee, she served as Vice President of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association and American Psychiatric Association Resident Fellow Member Representative to Area 3, which covers the Mid-Atlantic region. She was awarded the Chairman’s Recognition Award and Clinical Excellence Award in Psychiatry. Following completion of her residency training, she pursued subspecialty training in geriatric and forensic psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. 

In 2019, Dr. Abellard joined Cornell Scott Hill Health Center and is the Medical Director of Geriatric Behavioral Services. She teaches 2nd and 3rd year medical students from Yale School of Medicine and is the treasurer of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society. She has a private practice in forensic psychiatry. Dr. Abellard is dedicated to treating the underserved and has an interest in the intersection of faith and mental health.

All Grad Fellowships Seaside Retreat: “God’s Grander Story: Ambition, Vocation, and the Call of Christ”

Join us at beautiful Killam’s Point, 20 minutes away and right on the water with beautiful hiking trails. Enjoy a refreshing time of fellowship with the various graduate and professional groups, and hear a short teaching on the topic of “God’s Grander Story: Ambition, Vocation, and the Call of Christ" by guest speaker, Pastor Matt Coburn (Trinity Baptist Church). Breakfast, hot drinks, and lunch provided.

Carpool to/from the retreat is available.
