Graduate alumnae Heather and Michelle share their stories
of navigating faith, academics, career, dating, marriage, and family

Heather Varguese John, M.D., Ph.D.
Heather’s interest in learning about people from as many perspectives as possible has led her to study Human Biology (B.A., Stanford), medicine (M.D., U. Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio; internal medicine internship, Northwestern University), psychiatry (residency, UCLA), and the history of science and medicine (Ph.D., Yale). At Yale, her dissertation ““Practicing Physicians: The Intern & Resident Experience in the Shaping of American Medical Education, 1945-2003” examined the efforts of physicians in training to shape their own professional formation.
Michelle Harris Ols, Ph.D.
Michelle is Principal Scientist at Obsidian Therapeutics, former Scientist II at Biogen, and former Postdoctoral Fellow at the Yale School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from John Hopkins University. She studied as a Fulbright Scholar at Heidelberg University. She is a wife and mom of two in the Boston area.
