Rob Satterberg came to work at Rivendell Institute in 2009 as Administrator. His vision for ministry here is to make our place more warm and inviting. He does this through his love for old houses and a desire to restore and improve, much as he focused on spiritual renovation during his career as a pastor. Rob sees the inherent beauty in the lives of people we meet and in the everyday tasks that help those who do scholarly work at Rivendell. His gifts are in the areas of serving and hospitality and keeping things running smoothly. He is a trouble shooter and problem solver. Connecting people with opportunities to support the ministry, Rob is interested in human resources as well as the financial underpinnings of the institute. Rob has come to recognize the power of the seeds planted in the academy as a force for change in the culture and sees Rivendell as a place where the influencers in our society can receive positive Christian role-models. Rob sees it as a safe place to think and to grow and Rivendell is excited to have an administrator with a heart to see the overall vision of the organization realized.
Educated at California State University, Fresno and North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Rob and his wife Ruth have two children and make their home in Middletown, CT. Their family lived in Pennsylvania and California before coming to Connecticut. He is an ordained Evangelical Covenant Church minister who enjoys classical music, golf, fishing, and good conversation.
Rob wants to invite you to investigate Rivendell, to see if there is something we can add to your life as a Christian and a scholar. You are welcome to find a spiritual home here while at Yale.
