“Being part of Rivendell’s Spiritual Formation for the last two years was a highlight of my time at Yale. I’ve developed indelible friendships and mentorship that have strengthened my identity in Christ and encouraged me to better integrate my faith and vocation. I’m grateful for this God-centered and generous community that is welcoming to all.”

One of the priceless lessons I learned during my time at Rivendell is to strive to discover my true identity- the kind that remains even when all else fails. Not only did this truth provide freedom from the relentless demands that my environment sometimes placed on me, it also helped me start my journey towards living the abundant life that Christ came to give us (John 10:10). It has become clear to me that the way to live a peaceful, fruitful, and satisfying life is to understand who God is because I was made in His image! I am grateful for the privilege to have fellowshipped with a rich community of believers who see their professions as a tool that God can use to show the world His glory. Thank you for this wonderful gift!

The Rivendell Spiritual Formation program has a unique position for my spiritual walk at Yale. It is a welcoming community which builds up graduate students with biblical truth- your identity is not based on principles of the world, but rather in Jesus Christ, which has carried me through many of the hard moments during my study at school. Friendship is another invaluable piece at Rivenell. I have formed deep connections with my Spiritual Formation friends, and the beautiful friendships are life-long treasures.

Each Friday I would look forward to attending Spiritual Formation gatherings where we would pray and study scripture with other students and hear testimonies from Christian faculty. These evenings at the Rivendell house were some of the most powerful and inspiring experiences which I ever had at Yale. I learned what it means to desire and seek God both with my heart and my mind. Because of the ways that the Lord used Rivendell, my faith has increased, and I have been given a greater imagination for the way God works in the world and in our lives.
